Bbnaija housemate, Erica, has tonight won the Head of House for the 2nd time in the TV reality show.  As usual, she was allowed to pick a deputy and she surprised the whole house by appointing Prince as her deputy.  Congrats to the both of them on one more week in the house free from eviction. 

The Supreme Court, has today dismissed the appeal filed by the People's Democratic Party( PDP) for Governor Yahaya Bello's victory in 2019 gubernatorial election of Kogi State to be nullified.  Musa Wada, the major opponent of Governor Bello in the gubernatorial election, has challenged the result of the election, while appealing to the Apex court to nullify same.  But the Apex Court led by the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tanko Mohammed, have disagreed the appeal filed on five grounds by Musa Wada. 

Three Big Brother Naija Lock down housemates, Tolani Baj, Bright O and Wathoni, have tonight been evicted from this year's BBNaija lock down edition.  The eviction show saw all the housemates standing the risk of possible eviction, save the Head of House and his deputy.  All the housemates, having been asked to stand, the eviction commenced proper following the votes by the fans during the week. Tolani Baj, Bright O and Wathoni scored lowest in the votes, and that only meant one thing, their sojourn in the house was brought to an end.  Good luck housemates in your future endeavors. 

Chelsea FC, has this afternoon signed 21years old French Defender, Malang Sarr on a free transfer. The young Defender last played for Nice last season and his contract with them terminated in June, 2020, after he refused  to renew his contract with them. Chelsea has quickly moved and acquired his signature in less than 24hours after announcing the signing of top Left back, Ben Chilwell.  Sarr, will now be sent out on loan for the 2020/21 season, with Bayer Leverkusen interested. 

Chelsea FC of England, has this evening officially announced the signing of England first choice left back, Ben Chilwell, on a 5years deal from Leicester City.  The deal cost Chelsea in the region of £50m, after Leicester City initially placed £80million pounds on his head. Chelsea has been in a long discussion with Leicester, following the end of 2019/20 EPL season.  Left back position has constituted problems for Chelsea since the exit of their legend Ashley Cole. Many have come in to fix the position ranging from Felipe Luis, Baba Rahman, Alonso and Emerson, but all failed to nailed down the spot.  Chelsea hopes that the young England first choice left back, Chilwell will do that for them. Let's watch out for that. Welcome Ben! 

Premier League new comers, Leeds United, has this night signed Rodrigo from Valencia for £27m. This was confirmed by Valencia on their official page, after they reached agreement with Leeds. Valencia who are in financial crises following covid-19 pandemic, have been selling off their top players in massive clear-out to raise funds. Rodrigo becomes the next big player to leave following the sales of Ferran Torres to Man City, Dani Parejo and Francis Coquelin to Villarreal, among others.  Leeds United has shown to be serious upon their promotion to the Premier league, with high quality acquisitions. Rodrigo becomes their 5th major signing of the season. 

Chelsea winger, Pedro, has this evening joined Italian top club AS Roma on a three year deal, following end of his contract with the blues.  Pedro, became a free agent after his contract with Chelsea expired at the end of the covid-19 protracted season. He took an achilles injury towards the end of the season, and that delayed his contract with the Italian team.  But the Italian club Roma, took to their official page to announce the three years contract with the Spaniard.  In the other breaking news, Matteo Kovacic has beaten competition from Mount, Pulisic and captain Azpilicueta to emerge Chelsea's Player of the season for the 2019/20 season.  Same votes by fans and teammates also see Tomori's strike against Wolves early in the season voted Chelsea's goal of the season, as Billy Gilmour emerged Young Player of the year. Bethany England emerged Chelsea's female player of the year, after a wonderful season with the Chelsea ladies. 

Big Brother Naija Lock down housemate, Ozo has tonight emerged the new Head of House (HoH) for the second time.  Recall that he selected Dorathy as his deputy last time out. Well, this time around, he has not sprang up surprise, as he has chosen Nengi as his deputy.  Congratulations to the new leaders in the house. 

Bayern Munich has tonight won the Champions League trophy for 2019/2020 season.  They won the final, after a pulsating 90 minutes of action against French giants, PSG. The first half was a close and tactically balanced tie, as both teams applied caution in going to and fro, and that saw the first half end in a stalemate.  However, the second half was a different ball game, as the German champions came out more determined, and drew the first blood on the 59th minute mark, when Kingsley Coman finished well from Joshua Kimmich's deft cross, to put the Germans 1-0 up. That will be the last score when the final whistle sounded at the end of the regulation time.  This, sees them winning the Champions League trophy for the record 6th time in their history of participating in the tournament.  Congrats deserved winners, Bayern! 

BBNaija housemate, Praise has tonight been evicted from the ongoing BBNaija lock down 2020 edition.  Four housemates; Trikytee, Vee, Praise and Wathoni, were initially asked to be on their feet, as they were the lowest ranked housemates from the fans' voting log. And as usual, the lot fell on their fellow housemates to grace the diary room and cast their votes on which of the standing four to exit the show.  The housemates decided that Praise should be the next to vacate the premises. 

A bloody clash has ensued today between the members of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) and the Nigeran security operatives in the early hours of today, 23rd of August, 2020.  The trouble broke out around 7:00am when some security operatives invaded a community secondary school at Emene, Enugu state, where the IPOB members were having their monthly meeting, and started to forment troubles.  The attempt of the security agencies to arrest the IPOB members was met with strong resistance by the IPOB members, who initially overpowered the security operatives, who then went and regrouped and came back to unleash mayhem on unarmed members of the group, leading to loss of lives.  IPOB, has now released a statement through her spokesman, Emma Powerful who lamented the attitude of the security operatives while giving account of what happened.  " The Nigerian government and her security agencies have once again exhibited another crude round of massac

Sevilla, has tonight become the first football club to win all the Europa league final they have participated in. They won Inter Milan, after a pulsating affair to attain this feet.  Sevilla, prior to tonight's encounter with Antonio Conte's Inter, had the record of participating in five Europa league final and winning all five.  Before the encounter with Inter, football followers and bookies were all rooting for Conte's men wielding the top scorer in the tournament Romelu Lukaku, to end Sevilla's dominance, but that was not to be, as Sevilla, netted the solitary goal in the second half, after a pulsating first half encounter that ended in 2-2 scores, to make the final score 3-2 on the night.  Congrats Sevilla! Better luck next time Inter!!

Popular Nigerian comedian, AY has claimed that the rich kids in Nigeria are nothing to write home about.  He made this claim via his instagram handle, while applauding the manner in which BBNaija Lockdown housemate,  Kiddwaya, popularly referred to as rich man pikin , has conducted himself so far.  The post did not go down well with one of AY fans, who lashed out on him for the post. But AY was quick to put the nosey fan where he belongs with a savage reply. 

Former Chelsea Midfielder, John Obi Mikel, has this evening joined Stoke City Football Club of England on a free transfer.  The Nigerian, who started last Season with Trabzonspor football club in Turkey, could not finish the season, as he left the club on protest, following their delay in adhering to covid-19 rules.  He became a free agent since then, but has always had interest in coming back to England.  He arrived England in the early hours of Monday morning for his medicals in Stoke city, before his transfer was officially confirmed by the club this evening. 

Kaisha of the Big Brother Naija Lock down edition, has this night been evicted from the TV reality show.  Before the evictions, four housemates were asked to stand up, following the voting by the fans in the week just passed; Kaisha, Trikytee, Neo and Wathoni.  The final voting assignment then shifted to their fellow housemates to go to the diary room and choose who leaves. 

Arsenal Football Club of England, has today announced the signing of Willian Borges Da Silva from Chelsea on free transfer.  The winger left Chelsea at the end of 2019/20 season following the expiration of his contract with the blues. Willian had wanted Chelsea to offer him extension of contact for 3 more years, but Chelsea were only willing to offer 2years deal, which means the discussion between him and the club reached a stalemate.  Upon their announcing of his acquisition, Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta expressed his satisfaction in winning the battle for Willian's signature, having dragged same with Barcelona and Tottenham Hotspur: " I believe he is a player that can make a difference for us ", Arteta said.  " We have been monitoring him for the past few months. We had a clear intention to strengthen in the attacking midfield and winger positions, and he is a player that gives us a lot of versatility. He can play in three or four different positions.
