Mayhem: As IPOB members and Security operatives clash in Enugu; 21 feared dead.

A bloody clash has ensued today between the members of the Indigenous People Of Biafra (IPOB) and the Nigeran security operatives in the early hours of today, 23rd of August, 2020. 

The trouble broke out around 7:00am when some security operatives invaded a community secondary school at Emene, Enugu state, where the IPOB members were having their monthly meeting, and started to forment troubles. 

The attempt of the security agencies to arrest the IPOB members was met with strong resistance by the IPOB members, who initially overpowered the security operatives, who then went and regrouped and came back to unleash mayhem on unarmed members of the group, leading to loss of lives. 

IPOB, has now released a statement through her spokesman, Emma Powerful who lamented the attitude of the security operatives while giving account of what happened. 

"The Nigerian government and her security agencies have once again exhibited another crude round of massacre and killing against the peaceful and unarmed IPOB family members in Enugu State today, 23rd August, 2020.

"We are surprised how Nigerian security agencies would allow their officers in their respective formations like army, police and DSS to be slaughtering our people without provocation.

" This rampant killing of innocent members of IPOB will be reciprocated in due cause. IPOB members have been slaughtered and arrested in their numbers across different locations in Enugu today, 23rd August, 2020.

"We must warn and put the whole world on notice that Nigerian government and her security operatives should stop killing our people because we are peaceful organisation with the mandate of restoring Biafran sovereignty within shortest period of time. 

"Today, the Nigerian security personnel stormed IPOB meeting ground in Enugu and started shooting sporadically which consumed lives of 21 members and 47 arrested for no just cause or provocation. 

"It is unfortunate that security operatives murders innocent members and carried their lifeless bodies to unknown locations. The security in the whole world must understand that keeping quiet and following the rule of law should not be construed as weakness on the part of IPOB", he concluded.

Official: Pedro joins Roma from Chelsea; as Kovacic wins Player of the season for Chelsea

Chelsea winger, Pedro, has this evening joined Italian top club AS Roma on a three year deal, following end of his contract with the blues.  Pedro, became a free agent after his contract with Chelsea expired at the end of the covid-19 protracted season. He took an achilles injury towards the end of the season, and that delayed his contract with the Italian team.  But the Italian club Roma, took to their official page to announce the three years contract with the Spaniard.  In the other breaking news, Matteo Kovacic has beaten competition from Mount, Pulisic and captain Azpilicueta to emerge Chelsea's Player of the season for the 2019/20 season.  Same votes by fans and teammates also see Tomori's strike against Wolves early in the season voted Chelsea's goal of the season, as Billy Gilmour emerged Young Player of the year. SERAP demands publication of reports on corruption probes from the National Assembly.

The Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project (SERAP) has sent a Freedom of Information (FoI) request to the Senate President, Dr. Ahmad Lawan , and the Speaker House of Representatives, Mr. Femi Gbajiabiamila , demanding them to " use your good offices and leadership positions to urgently publish all reports of completed public hearings and corruption probes by the National Assembly since the return of democracy in 1999" SERAP further urged the National Assembly to " disclose the number and details of public hearings and corruption probes by the National Assembly that have resulted in any indictment of suspects, and name such suspects. The reports should be sent to appropriate anti-corruption agencies to consider if there is sufficient admissible evidence to pursue prosecution".  In the Freedom of Information request signed by the Deputy Director of SERAP, Kolawole Oluwadare , and dated 25th July, 2020, the director stated thus: " Publishi
