Scent leaf, as known by Nigerians, is one among numerous classes of vegetables which people consume daily. It's botanical name is 'Ocimum Gratissimum'. 

Scent leaf has different names in different parts of Nigeria. In Igbo, it is 'nchuanwu' or 'aregbe'. In Hausa, it is 'daidoya', while in Yoruba, it is 'effirin'.

Scent leaf is very beneficial to the health, but before we list the health benefits for you, it's pertinent at this stage, to tell you the procedures in preparing it:

1. Take some of the leaves, wash and squeeze out the juice; 
2. Get a glass full of hot/warm water, add the juice to the warm water and take daily. You can add a little honey to it, if you're not comfortable with the taste. 
3. You can also add a little of it to your food or stew. Some put it in their vegetable soup as they claim it brings out the taste better.
