Southern Kaduna Killings: Northern Christians Lambaste Buhari and El-Rufai
The Northern States' Christians Elders Forum (NOSCEF), yesterday stated that the attitudes of the State and Federal Governments in justifying the attacks by suspected Fulani herdsmen on Southern Kaduna indigenes, which the Governments have described as reprisals, will only encourage the herdsmen to persist with the attacks.
The Chairman of NOSCEF, Engr. Ejoga Inalegwu, during press briefing on Tuesday, observed that, "In the past one week alone, reports show that over 60 people were killed by the rampaging Fulani herdsmen who invaded communities in Zangon Kataf, Kauru, kajuru and Jena'a Local Governments in the Southern Part of Kaduna, and unleashed terror on people.
"Thousands of people have been displaced and in various refugee camps. Sadly, the response of both the Kaduna State and the Federal Governments to these attacks have been far from satisfactory, with the people in perpetual fear of fresh attacks.
"The unbecoming justification of the attacks as reprisal statements by the Federal and State agencies, can only embolden the attackers to continue to unleash mayhem on the people".
NOSCEF chairman, further condemned the massacres and lamented on the federal and state governments' laxity in ensuring strong security of the lives and properties of their citizens.
"We are deeply saddened that while the Service Chiefs, who have failed in their duty to secure the nation, were reporting wonderful successes in their 'Northwest Campaign against banditry' to the President, Christian communities were being attacked and killed in Southern Kaduna, as if Southern Kaduna is not part of Northwest", he concluded.
