Dogara's defection back to APC Highlights the Political prostitution by Nigerian Politicians.
The former Speak of the Nigeria's House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara, has today left his political party, the People's Democratic Party (PDP) and rejoined his former party All Progressive Congress (APC) in a move which has not augured well with the opposition party PDP.
Dogara, it would be recalled, left the ruling political party APC in January, 2019 before the general elections while he was serving as the Speaker of the House.
Dogara met with President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House in Abuja with the Chairman of the APC Caretaker/National Convention Planning Committee, and Governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni.
This move by the past Speaker of the house has engendered a public display of disappointment by the PDP Bauchi Chapter who is still shocked by the move.
Reacting to Dogara's defection back to APC, Bauchi State PDP Public Relations Officer (PRO), Alhaji Yayanuwa Zainabari, expressed shock over the development, as he stated that the party has done so much for the ex speaker, part of which included handing him automatic ticket to contest for the Bogoro/Tafa Balewa/Dass Federal Constituency seat in the last general elections.
Alhaji Zainabari during interview following this development, had this to say:
"His exit really surprised us. The Government carried him along. The Governor really honoured him and gave his people opportunities to be part of the government.
"The party has not wronged him in anyway, but we want to know if the party wronged him".
Nevertheless, in a swift reaction of their own, APC has considered the move as a welcome development. The APC spokesman of Bauchi State, Adamu Jallah when contacted over this development had this to say: "It is a welcome development to the party and we are happy. We feel happy every day. We are not losing at all but getting more politicians every day.
"You know politics is like a business, you can leave and you can come back. Dogara left the party and returns, we are happy".
Following this last statement by the APC spokesman of Bauchi State, it will be right to state, that Nigerian politicians are turning to something more than prostitutes as their incessant jumping of the ship at every given time to suit their political taste, has become something laughable and has often made the Nigerian politics a laughing stock when compared to what is prevalent in other countries.
