There is no Boko Haram? So who attacked me? - Governor Zulum questions Army


Following the attack on his convoy Yesterday by suspected Boko Haram bandits, Borno State Governor, Babagana Zulum has questioned the attitude of the Nigerian Army towards their acclaimed fight against the Boko Haram insurgents in the state. 

Governor Babagana and his entourage had embarked on a humanitarian visit to one of the areas difficult to reach, Baga Town, when they were ambushed by the suspected Boko Haram insurgents. 

The attack was repelled by the security operatives in the convoy, however, about 15 persons were left injured. 

While confronting to the Commanding Officer in Mile 4, Governor Zulum decried the attitude of the military to safeguard the lives of the indigenes Baga community and protect them from the insurgents. 

"The army has been here for over one year now. There are 1,181 soldiers here; if you cannot take over Baga which is less than 5km from your base, then we should forget about Baga. 

"I will inform the Chief of Army staff to redeploy the men to other places that they can be useful", Zulum concluded. 

He then proceeded to question the Army's claims about having wiped out Boko Haram insurgents from the locality, 

"you said there is no Boko Haram here? Then who attacked us?"
