NBA election results: Akpata maintains social distance in landslide victory

The 2020 elections of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) came to an end yesterday at about 11pm. The election which was done online via electionbuddy, was one of the easiest and most peaceful election witnessed since the inception of NBA.

The Presidential election aspect of the NBA election, saw the non-silk, Mr. Olumide Akpata emerge the winner over his learned silk oppositions in a landslide victory, which has seen many lawyers joke that he maintained social distance from his opponents.
While addressing supporters at the NBA headquarters Abuja, the incoming president of the NBA also expressed his gratitude for being voted, while also assuring that transformational leadership will be witnessed in his administration.

In the same vein, Former NBA President, Augustine Alegeh, SAN, has congratulated the incoming president for the victory:

"The elections are over and we need to come together as a family to offer our support, advice and encouragement to the newly elected National Officers to enable them succeed in the task of delivering on the core mandate of the bar. We must appreciate the fact that elections are never perfect and I trust that the incoming administration will improve on the gains recorded in the electronic voting system that guarantees universal suffrage under our constitution", stated Mr. Alegeh.
